How Do I Register for Kindergarten at Sweet Grass?
(or any other Edmonton Public School)?
Students registering for Kinder in the 2024- 2025 school year must have been born in 2019.
You will need to complete your registration online . You will also need to provide a confirmation of current address for the parent/guardian and legal proof of the student’s name, citizenship and birth date . Registering online will help support our health and safety measures.
We will accept Kinder registrations starting on Feb 1st, 2024. We will accept registrations up to the first day of school but in order to be considered for guaranteed enrollment, you will need to register by March 22, 2024 at 4 pm. After that time, we can only guarantee enrollment for students who are in our attendance area. You can only pre-enroll at one school in EPSB.
English Program
In the English program, students who live in our attendance area are guaranteed right of access as well as students who have siblings already at our school and will continue here next year.
If our program is full, we will not be able to take anyone outside our attendance area. If our program is NOT full, we will accept students from outside our attendance area, going to random selection if needed. We are considered full at one class but as we will take all the students living in our attendance area, there may be more than one class in English K.
Spanish Program
In our Spanish program, we will take students from our own attendance area first, then priority would be to siblings before we look at the remaining registrations. If we have enough spots at the end of pre-enrollment, anyone who pre-enrolls will have a spot. If we have more applicants than spots, we will go to random selection for students who do not live in our neighborhood and are not siblings.
We will only run one class in Spanish Kinder so it is important all Spanish Kinder registrations to be received by the pre-enrollment deadline.
Please note, if you enroll in the Spanish program and after Kindergarten, you wish to leave the program, you would then be directed to your own attendance area school to attend the community program there or any other school that has space. (HC.AR, number 3)
Will you run a morning or afternoon class
Spanish Kindergarten will run in the morning to align with Spanish instruction for the rest of our our ISA students who take all their language instruction in the morning.
English Kindergarten will run in the afternoon.
If you do have to go to Random Selection...when will we know?
We will let you know, via email, by April 5th if we do not need to go to random selection. If we do need to go to random selection, we will let you know by April 12th.
