Athlete Code of Conduct

• All VOYAGEUR athletes are student - athletes. It is very important that athletes know that being a student comes first and athletes comes second.

• It is a privilege, not a right, to represent M.E. LaZerte High School as a VOYAGEUR athlete.

• Will make a serious commitment to the team and its members. This includes attending practices, games, team functions.

• One of our goals is to build character, and we are teaching our athletes to give back to the community and our athletic department.

• Must demonstrate a positive attitude and a willingness to cooperate with all coaches and teaching staff, students, opponents, officials, team-mates and classmates.

• Will demonstrate a high standard of self control and discipline and strive for excellence in academics and athletics.

• Must attend class regularly, be punctual, meet deadlines (assignments and tests) and have strong communication with your teachers and coaches if any problems arise.

• Understands that honour, integrity, and good sportsmanship are integral parts of being a VOYAGEUR.

• Uniforms, equipment and facilities must be treated with care and respect. This applies to all situations inside M.E. LaZerte as well as at other facilities.

• There is ZERO tolerance for alcohol, drugs, hazing, bullying, discrimination and harrassment. These violations could results in permanent removal from any or all teams at LaZerte.

• Demonstrates appropriate use of social media. Behavioural expectations in the online environment is the same as the real world. Athletes and teams are currently not allowed to host social media accounts for their specific teams.

• Respect and sportsmanship are core values of the athletic department. All athletes are expected to reflect these core values in their words and conduct toward members of marginalized communities, including (but not limited to) the LGBTQ2S+ community and people of color. Racist, sexist, islamophobic, homophobic, biphobic, and/or transphobic language or conduct will not be tolerated.

• Failure to adhere to the above written statements will result in temporary or permanent dismissal from team.
