Although the Leadership option is not a required class for being in AEP, many of our past Pre-AP students enjoyed the opportunity to be in this class and become leaders within our school.
Opportunities to develop leadership skills are important to student success, which is why we offer Learning to Lead as an option course at Kate Chegwin. Our focus is to provide opportunities for students to develop skills in communicating, organizing, decision making, group interaction, personal development and reflection. Students learn the concept of leadership through a comparison of basic theories and styles of leadership in preparation for future careers and life roles.
Leadership students organize school activities and bring Charger Pride to Kate Chegwin School. Students have led the planning and execution of activities and events including but not limited to: welcome week, school dances, pep rallies, theme days, and multicultural week. In addition, the program has fundraised for charities and organizations around Edmonton such as: Kids Kottage, SCARS, Operation Warmth, and Yess.
Many of our AEP students enjoy the opportunity to become a well rounded individual and take part in the many clubs that we offer at Kate Chegwin.
