For a quick recap of this riddle, We had found these two solutions:
Change it to:
0 + 4 = 4
8 - 4 = 4
There was one more no-one saw, did anyone find it this week?
Use your Math Skills to ESTIMATE the volume of this Camera.
What do you see that can help you do this?
Is there a way you can find out the actual Volume? How?
Your Responses (Use FlipGrid):
The order of operations (+, -, x, /) is VERY important in making sure you get the correct answer. Everyone needs practice to make sure they understand these. The BEDMAS trick tells you the order to do the Operations in in an equation where more than one operation is present.
B - Brackets ()
E - Exponents (Example: 2^2, the '^' is telling you the next number is an exponent)
D/M - Division('/') and Multiplication('x')
A/S - Addition('+') and Subtraction('-')
After doing Brackets and Exponents:
• If you have both Division and Multiplication Operations... Do them from LEFT to RIGHT before ANY additions and subtractions.
Example: 8 x 2 / 3, do 8 x 2 FIRST, then divide 16 by 3. ('/' means divide).
• If you have both Addition and Subtraction operations... Do them from LEFT to RIGHT.
Example: 8 - 4 + 3, do 8 - 4 FIRST, then add 4 +3.
This additional work with respect to Orders of Operations will further test your abilities to do this (make sure you do the first one from last week first). Here we've made it multiple choice so if in doubt, replace your answer into the question and see if it works!
The second half will ask you to think outside the normal way that we present math questions and it's asking you to find a missing number in the equations. When doing them, remember that the equal sign means that both sides have the same value no matter what it written there. If you add something to one side (or take it away), you need to do the exact same thing to the other side to keep it as true. Watch these two videos if you're having trouble or needs some help. If you do watch them... think of the '____' as your variable (the letter). The variable is the number you don't know.
Leo the Rabbit is climbing up a flight of 6 steps. Leo can only hop up 1 or 2 steps each time he hops. He never hops down, only up.
How many different ways can Leo hop up the flight of 6 steps? Provide evidence to justify your thinking.
