The Arctic Fox has one of the most beautiful survival tactic in the animal kingdom (in my opinion). Its winter coat is white, to help it blend with the snow to help it hide from predator and prey and to keep it warm. Its Summer coat helps it blend in with the surrounding foliage to help it hide from predators. Its legs are short and stubby to help it spread out its body weight over the snow so they don't sink. Its ears are pointed, to help it locate its prey under the thick snow of the arctic. The Arctic Fox's sense of smell is incredibly strong to help locate prey that are under the snow. Its claws are useful for tearing off manageable pieces of meat. The Arctic Fox's main source of food are Lemmings, the Lemming population fluctuation means that the Arctic Fox has to get creative with its meals, meaning that it is a specialist. The Arctic Fox is a secondary Consumer meaning that it eats primary consumers and is hunted by tertiary consumers. The Arctic Fox's predators consist of the Polar Bear, Wolf Packs, large Birds of Prey and Humans. The Arctic Fox's prey consist of Small Rodents, Hares, Birds and eggs. Its lifespan is 3-4 years in the wild and up to 14 years in captivity.
