Remote Learning Interviews

By Natalie Chavez

The following is feedback from all grade levels about how remote learning is going thus far:

How has your remote learning been going so far this year?

John Marino: “Remote Learning is going very well for me. Of course it has its times and I just want to quit, but I pick myself back up and keep going.”

Jillian Scweinert: “COVID-19 has been tough for everyone. We are living through events that are new, terrifying, and changing every day. Personally, Remote Learning has been difficult because I am a visual learner and need to see something before I can really master it. However, it has given me the opportunity to focus on myself more and grow as an individual.”

Allison Scheidt: “Remote Learning has been going well so far. Besides having connection problems here and there, I would say that it's not that bad.”

Angelica Portalatin: “My Remote Learning experience is going well, besides all of the connection issues, of course.”

Is remote learning hard or easy?

Johnathan Aguilera: “Remote Learning for me is going well. It is just sometimes a little hard to understand things when the help isn’t really there in person.”

Aleena Moore: “It's kinda stressful because some teachers will assign so much homework. I personally think that it is way harder than real school because staring at a screen is HARD on its own.”

Iliana Buda: “Remote Learning has been pretty tough because it feels like we aren't learning as much online as we would be in person. It's much harder to do school with everything being on our Chromebooks.”

Catherine Luquetta: “I think it is easy right now, but I think it might be a little more difficult when the schedule changes once we start going back part-time”

Do you think we are going back to school with a hybrid schedule?

Mikaila Munoz: “ I don't think we'll do hybrid until next year because the COVID cases are increasing, but things can change over time.”

Aleena: “I don't think we're going to go back to school either because right now there are so many Corona cases.”

Allison: “I thought at first that we might have a chance to go hybrid, but now my answer has changed. I really don't think we will be going hybrid because of the rise in the number of cases and just the risk that comes with going back to school.”

Catherine: “I don’t think we will be going back. Who knows if we might go into hybrid just because of how bad things are starting to get again.”

What are your thoughts if we do go back?

Zyana Turcios: “I could see some friends and finally get out of the house more.”

Jillian: “I am hoping that we return to school for hybrid learning, which will hopefully happen soon because I miss everyone and the overall environment in school.”

Iliana: “ I think it will be good for all of us to go back to school. For most people, school was one way to get out of the house. We need more interaction with friends and a space where we can leave the family drama behind. I'm hoping we can go back to school very soon.”

Angelica: “If we do end up going back, all I know is that it's going to be way stricter and different.”

All of these students had very unique thoughts, and I had an amazing time interviewing them. Thank you!
