Club Shout-Outs
By Annika Venegas
Though we are almost halfway through the semester, there are still clubs that are accepting new members! Here I have featured 3 more clubs! If you have any questions, make sure to contact the teachers listed below!
Freshmen Class Council
Sponsor: Ms. Heinen & Ms. McCann
Contact Info: heinenc@epcusd401.org & mccanna@epcusd401.org
Class Code: i3dipt7
Typical Club Activities:
Determine the Homecoming theme and decorate the freshmen hallway according to that theme
Plan, organize, and stay within the designated budget for events being planned
Fund-raise for future events
Remotely, they are brainstorming activities and themes for dances and Spirit Weeks and different fundraising opportunities
NOTE: Students will continue on with their sponsors year after year; for example, those who are in Freshmen Class Council this year have the option to be a part of Sophomore Class Council next year and so on. For example, Prom, Homecoming, and Senior Class Luncheon are some of the major events planned by Junior and Senior Class Council members.
How Often They Meet:
Every other Tuesday @3:15 pm
Key Club

Set up haunted houses in the bathrooms and work the Halloween Festival in the gym at the Civic Center on Halloween
Decorate the PACCT HOUSE (Home of the Autistic Boys) in River Grove for Christmas
Remotely, each month Key Club members were given a task to help their communities; so far, they have reached out in their communities to help neighbors, written letters to senior citizens at a nursing home, and collected canned goods and toiletries for the food pantry of Elmwood Park and Leyden Township
How Often They Meet:
Once a month on Tuesdays @6:30pm
Snowball
Sponsor: Ms. Arenga
Contact Info: arengam@epcusd401.org
Class Code: 6je3rw6
Typical Club Activities:
Snowball plans Snowflake Day, where Snowball members travel to the middle school for a fun day of planned activities. These activities educate middle school students about leading a healthy lifestyle
Snowball plans lock-in, where students stay at school from 1PM to 7AM the next day to spend a night of fun with their friends. Activities range from scavenger hunts and talent shows to watching movies with friends
Plan and play games to reinforce team building skills
Remotely, each month, they select a theme, like Red Ribbon Week and World Kindness Day. These themes relate to living a healthy lifestyle instead of resorting to things like alcohol and drugs. Members are separated into breakout rooms during virual meetings to discuss these theme and play games that pertain to the topic being focused on. Games focus on everyone working together and using their minds to work as one.
How Often They Meet:
Once or twice a month on Wednesdays @7:00 pm
