Time series of the area using the EO Browser with satellite images from Landsat.
According to the graph, it is observed that the water index increases from 2013 to 2016, which means that the Ammoglossa beach area is shrinking. After that, the index decreases, indicating that the beach area is expanding. This shows a fluctuation in the shoreline.
For the calculation of the water index, the green and near-infrared (NIR) bands of the satellite images were used.
NDWI = (green - NIR) / (green + NIR)
The map displays the study area. The processing and creation were done using QGIS software.
Sentinel-2 satellite images for the years 2017 and 2023 were used to create a Scene Classification Map.
The bare ground is shown in yellow, and the sea is shown in blue. We observe that from 2017 to 2023, the beach has expanded.
