The Ammoglossa beach is located quite close to the town of Lefkada, at the northeastern tip of the island, just a few meters from the floating bridge of Lefkada and across from the Castle of Agia Mavra.
The name of the beach reflects its shape and geography. In English, "Ammoglossa" means a narrow strip of sand that extends into the sea, resembling a tongue
From above, Ammoglossa beach appears as a small strip of golden sand that extends into the waters of the Ionian Sea, resembling a "tongue" and creating stunning visuals. Positioned at the edge of the canal that connects Lefkada to mainland Greece, this small sand tongue is a popular choice for both locals and visitors. It offers refreshing swims during the summer, particularly for families, as the waters on the inner side of the beach, facing the Castle of Agia Mavra, are quite shallow.
