Helping hands from our youth

How did we get this going?
Environment Tobago has always pushed for meaningful partnerships which are beneficial to the society that we exist in, and by extension youth.
In due course of the final week of October, discussions were had with the Cotton Tree Foundation. An education based Not-for-profit organization in Trinidad.

What was the benefit of this exercise?
Out of these discussions, we recognized that there was a need to engage with Tobago based volunteers that signed up with this organization having a desire to get involved in meaningful activities.
So... On Saturday 31st of October, 2020, we received four volunteers that assisted ET's staff with preparing our office at 11 Cuyler Street, Scarborough for the bolting up of a studio space concept. Our volunteers helped us to arrange our space, and some even rolled up their sleeves to get some painting done.

The concept that prompted us to engage volunteers.
The studio concept came as a result of our push to develop a space that creatives and other volunteers can further come to give of their time,  expertise and skills to create content.  This would primarily be used for virtual output in environmental education and topical discussion features. Most importantly, sustain partnerships with youth voices that wish to develop further as presenters, writers and social media connoisseurs.

An overall win-win situation seeing that we have now started a conversation with an organization (The cotton tree foundation) that has a wealth of access to keen, bright eyed and bushy tailed youth who are willing to support any initiative that assists them in keeping busy. For us at ET we are happy to engage with youth by keeping them interested in what our future plans are. Sufficed to say the spirit of volunteerism at ET is alive and kicking.
