Birds of prey like eagles, hawks, and owls have strong feet with sharp claws, or talons. These powerful claws help them grasp onto fish, rodents, or other animals.
Hunting feet act like strong, built-in tools for catching prey. When a bird spots its prey, it swoops down and uses its feet to grab onto the unsuspecting meal.
Hawks, with their keen eyesight, dive from the sky, quickly grabbing onto their prey. Owls, with their silent flight, surprise their targets in the dark of night. Eagles, soaring high above, spot their meals from great distances and then swoop down to grab them with their mighty talons.
Birds that hunt in the water, like ospreys and eagles, have special feet for fishing. Their talons are adapted to catch slippery fish from the water's surface.
