Birds of prey, or raptors, have sharp, hooked beaks. They use these beaks to pierce their prey, pull off fur and skin, pluck feathers, and cut meat into pieces.
Eagles, for example, have strong, hooked beaks that they use to tear apart their prey. They also use their beaks to feed their young.
Hawks also have tearing skills. They use their beaks to grab onto small animals like mice and tear them into bite-sized pieces.
Birds that hunt larger prey need tearing beaks to help them catch and eat their food.
