AVID

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is an elective course focusing on WICOR (writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization and reading) strategies. AVID students are required to maintain a well-organized binder and take Cornell Notes in all classes. The curriculum encourages critical thinking and other essential academic skills needed for success in rigorous honors and AP courses. Students are further supported in their classes through two days of collaborative, tutor-led study groups per week. AVID also provides SAT preparation, college application, financial aid, and scholarship support achieve the goal of acceptance into a four-year college.
