Michael O'Conner: High school does not only prepare young adults for their college career, but more importantly, it prepares them for their journey in life, and my time at Englewood High School did just that. From building lifelong relationships that date back to my freshman year, to now owning/operating an insurance brokerage in DTC; Englewood High taught me perseverance, resiliency, and grit. I will forever hold onto my amazing football team under the legendary, Coach Randy Penn. I cherish the countless memories with friends from prom, homecoming, the Powder Puff football game, and graduation. Englewood high school provided me with the foundation to flourish as an adult while also providing a great high school experience.

For me, Englewood represented, and still represents, family. There was more sense of community during my time at Englewood High School than any place I’ve seen sense. I’ve had family members who have attended other schools in the metro area, and it never felt like they had the same closeness with their peers and teachers. I know people who have attended the same school at the same time and didn’t know one another existed until meeting long after they graduated. People say that you are unlikely to remain close with friends from high school throughout your life. That may be true of other schools, but not Englewood High School.
