You have:
learned many new skills in Python programming
explored how to gather data, manipulate data, and plot data
And now, you get to combine it all together by focusing on a project of a topic that you are interested in.
DATA GATHERING:
Step 1: What data topic do I want to focus my project on?
What am I interested in?
Step 2: Determine what data will be collected and how will it be used.
What data sources do I need?
Can I used saved datasets from the past?
Do I need real-time data such as using API?
Would using web scraping be beneficial?
How much can I trust the data? Is it reliable and unbiased?
What will I do with the data I’ve found?
Will I look at the distribution of data?
Do I need to perform calculations?
Is it necessary to plot and predict/extrapolate data?
Step 3: Conclusions and Results: Presentation & Code
Describe what you created or tested,
Explain what conclusions you were able to draw based on the data.
Explain lessons-learned as a result of the project and coding.
Students will present their findings to Engineering Tomorrow staff in a professional, Q&A-style format!
These are meant to be around 5 minutes long and can be done at any time. If you are working ahead, submit an email to scicomp@engineeringtomorrow.org and we will find a time to meet.
You will receive an email from scicomp@engineeringtomorrow.org with a link to sign up for a time slot!
Presentation Timeslots will be assigned to you ahead of time. You will be provided a zoom link for your particular breakout room to present.
It can often be helpful when planning your project to understand the grading system. Below is the rubric that can help to ensure you are meeting all the expectations of the project.
