Lesson 1

1. Better representation of disabilities in entertainment (vid)

2. Inspiration porn? (vid)

3. A complete departure from all meaning. (SOAP OPERA notes)

4. Notes section + Top 10 Soap Opera Cliches (vid)

Write the following in the notes section of your notebook:

The Soap Opera

(So called because the main sponsors of those daytime drama radio programs - 1920's - were soap companies.)

You and your partner (I'll tell you who that is) shall now brainstorm for your very own Soap Opera Screenplay!

Step 1: Each of you make mind maps for a character or 2 in your notes section:

Lesson 2

1. Soap Opera Effect (vid)

2. Show Screenplay format example

3. Start writing your soap operas, making sure to insert "business" (also called "direction" in the film industry. For plays, it's called "stage direction")

      • The more dramatic and low-budget, the better.
      • Don't forget to use a couple of the Top 10 cliches from your notes section!

4. Soap Opera Dramatic Moments (vid)
