UC San Diego needs your help! With the increasing student population, UCSD must plan for the projected growth and everything that comes with it — additional housing, academic facilities, services, and more. In order to meet the needs of a record 43,000 enrolled students, UCSD has begun new campus renovation and expansion projects. The new Triton Center project plans to provide various student services for the rapidly growing student population by demolishing space-inefficient 1940s-era buildings. In addition, the Ridge Walk North Living and Learning Neighborhood will add 2,400 beds by 2025 by replacing low-density structures. However, all of these campus improvement projects can cause issues for current students navigating their normal university schedules, and they can’t get started without some demolition! We need your help to ensure these projects are completed as soon as possible! Your job, as a team, is to design, test, analyze, fabricate, and deploy your robot to help demolish parts of campus, recycle Supplies from the demolition sites, and deliver them to the various construction sites on campus.
Contest Description:
Two robots will compete head-to-head for 60 seconds. Robots will try to score as many points as possible by gathering Supplies from the demolition sites and delivering them to the various construction sites on campus. Based on the relative difficulty to deliver, certain sites are worth more points than others. In order to reduce the workload of our already tired construction workers, more points will be awarded for delivering to the farthest construction sites. All scoring will be done at the completion of the contest after all parts have finished moving. Read the details of points below, and set your priorities straight when helping to renovate our campus!
