In Fall 2019, we developed a Gantt chart to plan and track project progress. In Winter 2020, the Gantt chart was not extensively used because we used other project management software (discussed below) but nonetheless, the Gantt chart provides a good overview of general tasks in project phases.
As mentioned in the "About the Project" page, we also developed financial analysis spreadsheets to track product costs and other fixed/variable costs for potentially starting a business and preparing a pitch deck to potential investors. Although we never actually pitched to investors, preparing the necessary proof and documentation was a good learning experience for all of us. Specific values and calculations cannot be shown here for privacy reasons.
Below is a rough five year projection of revenue and expenses. This was good practice for all of us to recognize the importance of scaling up production, assuming that the swallow materials were to be marketed, manufactured, and sold. Again, the y-axis values are hidden for privacy.
In addition to holding and attending weekly team update meetings with our mentor, Melissa, we also used Clickup to manage specific project tasks. In Winter quarter, our weekly lab tasks needed to be "handed off" to other members, so it was important for everyone to be up to date on what needed to be done.
