To address the project's specific problem statement, three aims were identified:
Harvest graft tissue from the rabbit with appropriate mechanical characteristics to be used for an allograft.
Develop a graft implant method that is consistent with current methods of ACLR for achieving precise anatomical positioning.
Determine if the grafted knee stiffness and strength under immediate and long-term bio-mechanical testing is similar to that of the knee with native ACL intact.
To accomplish the aims of the project, a design workflow was created. The flow includes six major steps: pre micro-CT prep, native knee micro-CT, ST graft harvest, ACL-T and bone tunnel drilling, graft attachment, and testing via anterior posterior laxity test and microCT.
