The mini sculpture was the base for our final sculpture. Because of the mini sculpture, we already had the requirements in place such as the human interface, the motor and the color sensor. The mini sculpture functioned well but there were improvements to be made for the final project. For example, we added a human interface to the color sensor that lets people turn off the automatic ramp in order to control it themselves. Additionally, we built on the original human interface by providing another track that the balls can travel through.
When we finished the Mini Sculpture it had a color sorter, which sorted dark from light colored marbles. It also had a human interface where a user could rotate a ramp to two different tracks. After presenting this to the cluster, we decided to add more height and length to the sculpture. We also had to incorporate another human interface that interrupted the action of a motor. We determined that it was best to use a touch sensor to interrupt the color sensor and allow people to move the ramp. In addition, we added another elevator that leads to a new, looped track. After we saw everything work in union, we created ghosts and a "Ghost Town" sign and small ghosts for decoration using acrylic and a laser cutter.
