The Clock Project was a challenge assigned in order to teach necessary skills such as CAD, Working Model 2D simulations, laser cutting, and machining. We started by sketching designs for different clocks on paper, with each including two branches on top to interact with the escapement wheel. The escapement wheel is a device which pushes the clock back and fourth, powered by the force of a weight rotating it clockwise. We then transferred our paper drawings into Inventor. They were then processed in AutoCAD, where they could be transferred to Working Model 2D (WM2D) for real life simulations. Meanwhile, the real parts were fabricated in the design studio using machines like Lasercamms and drills. Finally, we assembled the newly made parts into the clocks shown.
