Project Objectives
Concisely list and prioritize the project objectives and constraints
High Priority Objectives
Cut microgreens without harming them
Collect microgreens without harming them
Second Priority Objectives
Design our own blade that works well for the 10 inch trays and is marketable
Design our own blade driver that can be mass produced and sold
Other Constraints and Issues
Needs a mobile collection tank so that a whole room of trays can be easily cut
Needs to be small enough to be hand held.
WOW Design Solution
The device is hand held
can cut an entire tray in a single pass
is mobile enough to allow easy collection of an entire room of trays
designed to be mass produced easily
Risk Reduction Strategy
List areas of risk and strategy that will be used to eliminate risk really in the design process.
Select a blade design
find a blade that easily cuts the greens with the least amount of damage
Identify collection method
figure out how to collect the greens in a way that damages them the least
Intermediate Milestones
Identifying meaningful intermediate milestones is a critical for effective project management. Together with your sponsor identify such milestones, and specify specific performance requirements you aim to meet at each milestone.
Refine the suction collection device
Must be gentle enough to collect greens and keep them in a sellable state
Determine largest usable nozzle that can be used without harming the greens
Trimmer retrofitting
modify the trimming device to use the extra large blades without excessive oscillation
Integrative Housing
Create a device that can connect the vacuum nozzle and cutting blade effectively and safely
Prototype
combine all previous elements into a working prototype
Final design
test and refine prototype to make an aesthetic, well functioning, and marketable device
