Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Ready to fabricate first prototype (of older design)
Continuing to make changes on design
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Completed iteration of design with inserter tip
Placed order on simulated bone
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives
Finalize design
Send design (or past design) to manufacturer for a quote
Test with gelatin
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
Anchor seems to push material apart laterally instead of digging upward
Leaves anchor without much bone material to grab on to
Can be credited to the relatively small space that the anchor was deployed in
Try test again but on a smaller scale
3D printers should be able to fabricate without resolution issues
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
Try using electrical discharge machining, or look into other small precision machining methods
Will be contacting 3D Systems to see if they have an option
Contacted Tom and sent CAD file of design for verdict
Unable to machine design
Risks and Areas of Concern
Ineffective prototypes
Will cause more delays in design
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Cadavers
Porosity size of bone
Quotes of sample anchors
Method of machining prototype
Schedule
Additional gelatin test with updated design
Manufacture anchor out of steel or titanium
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
$240 spent
$860 remaining
