Written by Savana Krupicka | This year, the Junior High Girls Basketball Team has started off their season strong with a win against Seward. This season is the first year combined with junior high sports. The coaches this year consist of Sheli Mueller from Exeter-Milligan and Nicole White from Friend. Savana Krupicka talked with Coach Mueller about her thoughts for this season and how she feels about it. She said,“I see a lot of potential in all of the players, and the girls have been working really hard on learning the different plays.” She also thinks that it is great having both schools this year because it has created a great culture of competition. Having both schools also raised their numbers, so now the team is able to run drills that maybe they did not have been able to before with such low numbers. She is looking forward to seeing the girls coming together as one team this season and is excited to see the improvement of skills in the girls. For the team, her goal is to really prepare them all for the next level of basketball, especially for the returning eighth graders. Overall, we wish the best of luck to the Junior High Girls Basketball team in the rest of their season this year.

Written by Draven Payne | The junior high football team has started their season off strong with a win against Tri-County. Head Coach, Brian Murphy, is feeling really good about his team this year saying, “They have good attitudes and show up ready to listen and practice.” Something that has changed this year is that Coach Murphy is starting to run things like the high school team does. Tyler Due, the starting quarterback for the high school football team believes that this will help a ton in future years and hopefully allow things to run smoother overall. Some things that Coach. Murphy feels the junior high team still needs to work on more basics since the players missed a lot of practice due to the heat earlier this season. He is very optimistic about the future weeks and feels they will improve by eliminating mental errors as the season progresses. Coach Murphy plans to accomplish this through some of the eighth grade students. He believes they are very good leaders right now. Those that he finds to be leaders include Elijah Oceguera, Will Kallhoff, and Clayton Pribyl. Coach Murphy shared some of the strengths of the team stating that they have a solid backfield and pretty good tacklers. As the season moves on we wish the best of luck to the Junior High football team and a great season!
