2011 Preparation for Board Meetings

The superintendent will create the agenda and board packet in consultation with the board president. The materials will be sent or delivered to each board member in advance of the meeting. Members of the public have no entitlement to place an item on the board’s agenda, but may address the board during the next meeting at which the board receives public comment. The agenda shall be placed on the district’s website at least 24 hours before the school board meeting and shall remain available on the website for at least six months. A board of education member requesting that an item be included on the regular monthly agenda must submit a request to the president of the board by noon of the Thursday preceding the regular monthly meeting, and the president of the board will instruct the superintendent if and when the requested item should be added to aspecified monthly agenda. Any board of education member may file an agenda request with the president of the board and the superintendent by noon of the Thursday preceding each board meeting to add an item on the agenda for the sole purpose of placing a motion before the board to place a proposed agenda item on a following monthly agenda. If the motion to place a specific agenda item on a following monthly agenda is approved by a majority vote of the board members, the proposed item will be addressed on a subsequent monthly agenda as specified in the motion. If the motion to place a specific agenda item on a following monthly agenda is not approved by a majority vote of the board members, the proposal is defeated. This policy in no way restricts the terms and conditions in which an emergency meeting may be called, as outlined in board policy 2014.
