Determine appropriate course load and number of extracurricular activities so there is plenty of time to study.
Extra-Curricular Activities
Extracurricular activities include anything you do outside of school as long as you have committed time and effort toward what you do. Competitive colleges and universities generally like to see applicants with demonstrated leadership potential. Make sure you balance your schoolwork with your extracurricular activities during the school year and plan ahead for summer activities. But NEVER sacrifice your grades for extracurricular activities!
Challenge yourself by taking rigorous coursework. Consider taking Accelerated, Honors and or AP courses when available. A rigorous course load will strengthen your academic skills, better prepare you for college and make you a more competitive applicant when applying to college.
