Temperatures in the Arctic are rising at least twice as fast as the global average, and sea ice coverage is shrinking by almost 4% per decade.
Today, studies show that toxic chemicals produced in remote factories, have been further threatening the health of adult bears at a level 100 times greater than the acceptable risk threshold for humans.
If the number of seals continues to rise without polar bears controlling their population, it could threaten the population of shellfish and fish, an important food source for local human populations as well as other Arctic wildlife.
