Meriah Sage currently serves as the Program Director for Applied Drama and Theatre for the Young (ADTY) at Eastern Michigan University. Under her leadership, ADTY empowers students to enhance their skills as both artists and educators. Recognized as one of only six programs of its kind in the US, ADTY explores the interconnectedness of theatre artistry, pedagogy, and research. Drawing on diverse fields such as theatre for young audiences, creative drama, performance studies, applied theatre, arts integration, youth theatre, and community engagement, students in the program apply a multidisciplinary approach.
Embracing the belief that drama and theatre have the power to captivate the imagination, challenge ideas, and inspire learning, the ADTY program continues to foster a dynamic learning environment. Established in the early 1960s by Virginia Glasgow Koste, the program has a rich legacy of producing accomplished graduates. These alumni have become influential leaders and contributors, serving as non-profit teaching artists, education directors, managers, professors, K-12 educators, artistic directors, playwrights, and directors, making a positive impact on communities worldwide.
