Play Synopsis
School is out for the summer, the weather is hot and the boredom is heavy. But 8-year-old Sheila and her pack of pals aren’t going to let the summer heat wear them down. When their fantastical junkyard fort draws the attention of a walking, talking, surprisingly well-dressed coyote, the adventurers suddenly find themselves deep in the desert, facing The Council of Howls, The Sting Brigade, The Death Cactus and much more. It's a whirlwind adventure about how we affect the environment and the animals with whom we share the planet, and how we take on the mission of saving the world from ourselves. A unique twist on traditional storytelling, where a bit of moonlight brings a menagerie of found objects to life, this original play shows the power of memory and imagination and will captivate and inspire audiences of all ages.

William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a whimsical romantic comedy that interweaves themes of love, magic, and mischief. The play unfolds in and around an enchanted forest, where four young lovers flee the constraints of Athenian society, only to become entangled in a web of misunderstandings and magical interference. Meanwhile, a troupe of amateur actors rehearses a hilariously disastrous play, and the quarrelsome fairy king and queen, Oberon and Titania, manipulate the mortal and supernatural worlds with the help of the mischievous Puck. Chaos ensues as love potions cause mistaken affections, and human and fairy worlds collide in humorous and heartfelt ways. Ultimately, harmony is restored, and the characters find their way back to love and laughter, celebrating the triumph of imagination and reconciliation.
PLAY SYNOPSIS
Participants will meet Ronnie, who has invited them over to her backyard to swim in her big, blue pool. Along with her pet fish, Scales, and stuffed octopus, Octet, Ronnie enlists the help of the audience to prepare to go swimming. Right when she’s ready, Grandma informs her that it’s much too cold to swim— it’s autumn! Encouraged to use her imagination instead, Ronnie and Scales lead the participants on an exploration of the ocean, an island full of giant desserts, and the ways that imagination can make an ordinary day magical.

Ronnie and Scales’ Magnificent Tale is a work of sensory theater. There are a lot of similarities to the theatrical productions you might be familiar with! We have a linear storyline, the production features a set, props, and costumes, and we have original musical numbers. However, Ronnie and Scales features many opportunities for students to explore the set, interact with the actors, and become fully immersed in the adventure.
The story was written through a devised process, meaning it was created with the director and ensemble in the rehearsal room. Through this process, Ronnie and Scales is specifically tailored to neurodivergent individuals and people with special needs— communities that were in mind throughout every step of creation!

Hare and Tortoise Study Guide
Edward Tulane is an expensive toy rabbit made of china. He is loved by a little girl named Abilene, but Edward doesn’t care. He is vain and self-centered. He has no interest in anyone other than himself. On an ocean voyage, Edward is accidentally thrown overboard and sinks to the bottom of the sea. So begins his journey—a journey over which he has no control, for he is a toy rabbit. He can neither move nor speak. As years pass by, Edward meets many different people in many different situations: an older grieving couple who find comfort in Edward’s presence, a hobo and his dog who introduce Edward to a whole community of homeless wanderers, a farmer in need of a scarecrow, a sad little boy and his very ill sister, and finally a doll mender and an old doll who teach Edward an invaluable lesson. Through this miraculous journey, Edward learns what it is to love, what it is to lose that love, and how to find the courage to love again. Based on Kate DiCamillo’s beautiful novel of the same name, the play is a theatrical tour de force for a small ensemble of actors and musicians. ~ Source Dramatic Publishing
