This workshop was developed at Eastern Michigan University. It's purpose is to:
1. familiarize university faculty, first year writing instructors, and writing center staff with the complexity surrounding source use, especially as it relates to multilingual writers
2. point out problems with relying on punitive approach to unconventional source use
3. discuss the variety of textual behaviors often labeled as "plagiarism" and
4. engage participants in thinking about effective pedagogical approaches to source-use pedagogy.
This video was developed by Dr. Zuzana Tomaš and Bill Marino at Eastern Michigan University and included in both the list of resources listed above and the workshop. It is designed to demonstrate the difference between a punitive approach to source use and a pedagogical approach. The video has been used effectively in writing faculty development.
