Day 1

Dig Journal Entry

Journal Entry 1 by Ari Merten Tuesday 4/2/2020

Today was a big day. The first day of the annual Ancient History Year 11 Excavation Site was today! At the start of the lesson we had a look into the history of Emanuel School which would help us in identifying any artefacts we may find. We then travelled the long distance to our dig site (just up the hill) and measured our two square meter box areas to dig in! We then got to digging, as 3 people dug up the dirt, 3 other people sieved the dirt they dug up and we managed to find 4 different artefacts! The first three were a bit dull, two metal sheets and a pen lid, but the last was our first interesting find. It was a piece of paper from a book that is yet to be identified. Overall the first dig day was lots of fun, with spirits high and lots of singing of the Indiana Jones theme, we are all looking forward to seeing what else we dig up in the coming days!
