How nice it is for us to all be gathered here once more
All these nervous newbies huddled on the sorting floor.
Hidden behind masks their faces may yet be
But I’ll still peer inside their heads and judge on what I see
A Gryffindor, who braved the time with heart stayed firm and true?
Or Hufflepuff who was always there to see others make it through?
A Ravenclaw who stayed informed on all the world’s progress?
Or Slytherin who shared morale with the sad and with the stressed?
No matter what hard challenges were faced in this past year
You overcame each single one, and still we persevere
Now we are gathered here today, and in person all no less,
No more delay! It’s sorting time, and I wish you all the best.

In this time of sickness, where no one’s feeling sure
And germs seem to linger on ev’ry hand, fountain, and door,
With distance and with caution, we honor our tradition
We’re divided, but not conquered, and still pursue the long-time mission
We sort into four houses, not to separate but to unite
And against any fearsome foe, together we shall fight.
Slytherin leads the battle, ensuring all are still healthy
By the nose or by the mouth, through the testing we will see.
Ravenclaw is close behind, with instructions for staying safe
Sanitize all carefully when you enter and leave a place.
Gryffindor makes sure that there’s a mask covering all
Over mouth and nose entirely, and do not let it fall.
Hufflepuff now reassures that the world will not soon end
Social distance with compassion for both enemy and friend
Together we will ride this through, with hope fast in our heart
And though we will stay vigilant, it’s time for sorting now to start!
