The Hundley Family

Explore the multi-faceted experiences of the Hundleys, a Reservation family whose historic contributions span from the 1700s to the present day.  Here, the family shares stories that reveal and celebrate Black excellence and resilience. Learn about William Hundley, whose great-grandfather is believed to have served in the Revolutionary War, Joseph Hundley, a Reservation oysterman and entrepreneur during the reconstruction period, Antoinette Anderson, whose parents managed Log Cabin Beach, the only beach for African Americans in Williamsburg during the Jim Crow era,  John Allen, an HBCU and Ivy-league educated architect, on his experiences in York County during segregation, and Jessika Miller, engineer and graduate of the US Naval Academy.  Also featured are Hundley Rising Stars: Kendall Green (entrepreneur), Sydni Washington (shipbuilder and genealogist), Lia Preston (photographer), and Eric Glover (author and screenwriter).
