FAQ

What is Circle K International?

Circle K International is a college and university organization of students who form a lifelong commitment to service, leadership, and fellowship, both within the community and worldwide. For more information, visit our About CKI or Kiwanis Family pages.

When do you meet?

Tuesdays at 7pm in Blow 333!

How do I join CKI?

See How to Join

What are the benefits of being a member?

1. We keep records of hours. So if you ever want a count or synopsis of your service for any reason, we can give that to you.

2. You are insured when doing service projects. This is one of those benefits we sort of hope never gets used. ;-)

3. Leadership opportunity. We can help develop your leadership skills with the many leadership opportunities we offer.

4. Fellowship. Life gets rough when you don't know many people. Our club is made up of a lot of cool people - come meet us!

5. A network of Kiwanians. The Kiwanians offer us a great resource in that they are experienced professionals in all sorts of fields. Make even greater use of them through the KICK-IT Program.

Are there service hour requirements?

Yes, there are. New members need to complete 10 service hours in order to be inducted (see How to Join). Current members also need to complete 10 hours per semester.

What counts as a service hour?

Any of the following activities:

· Any club-sponsored project that is open to the entire membership

· Time spent planning for projects (not including regular board meetings)

· Transportation to and from a project up to 30 minutes (stops for meals, etc., do not count)

The following activities cannot be reported:

· Conventions (i.e. ICON, DCON)

· Projects restricted to other groups (such as church youth group service trips)

· Fundraisers for the club. If you bake cookies for hours, the proceeds must go to charity and not to CKI

· CKI leadership, though welcome, cannot be reported

Does CKI have a pledge?

We sure do! "I pledge to uphold the objects of Circle K International, to foster compassion and goodwill toward others through service and leadership, to develop my abilities and the abilities of all people, and to dedicate myself to the realization of mankind's potential." (That's a crescendo...)

What do my dues go towards?

CKI is an international organization and your dues go towards paying international, district, and club dues. Your dues provide resources like a monthly magazine and scholarship opportunities, in addition to paying for club necessities like transportation and service project supplies. Dues paying members will also have the added advantage of being exempt from paying for some social events.
