I recreated the Han and Greedo scene but with robots.

The Explosion - It was really hard to get this effect to work. At first I tried using a nParticle and FumeFX combination to create an explosion. The sheer amount of particles ended up crashing maya a couple of times and when I finally got to the FumeFX part, I learned it's not a default maya component and costs $300. So, instead I used a volume light and had it flash with I think 10000 brightness and that did the trick.

Making sure the audio matched the video was a tricky part. I ended up converting seconds and fractions of seconds from the original video into frames. I then matched the start and end of shots to their exact counterparts in the original video.
