Yihui Wang, an undergraduate student majoring in guitar performance at University of Arizona. For Yihui, it was not her choice of guitar, but the guitar chose her. When Yihui was 8 years old, her parents accompanied her to play in the neighborhood of her relatives, and a man came over and said to them: I am teaching a musical instrument, do you want to come over and try to play? Yihui's parents thought she was too lively, and it is good for her to learn a musical instrument, so they follow him to a guitar studio. They didn't know that this decision would change the course of Yihui's life. Yihui began to learn guitar from then on until now.
Her first teacher is Ren Haipeng, who is a brilliant guitar player and painter, and her second teacher is Li Le, who is one of the most famous teachers in the China. In her teacher's eyes, Yihui showed a higher talent in guitar and music than her peers, so the teacher strongly recommended her to apply to the music school and become a professional guitar student. But at that time, the academic score of Yihui is also very well. Her parents didn’t want her to study music professionally, so they set a goal for her: If Yihui can get the first place in a professional guitar competition, she can take the music school. So Yihui worked very hard to practice the guitar, and in July 2011, she won first place in the “Manshi cup” Classical Guitar Invitational, and third place in the “Martinez cup” National Classical Guitar Professional Invitational at the conservatory in Tianjin. In July 2013, she traveled to Germany to attend the Iserlohn International Guitar Festival, and in September of the same year she was admitted to the Music Middle School affiliated with the Shanghai Conservatory of Music where she studied with Mr. Ye Dengmin. In August 2017, she was admitted to Fred Fox School of Music at the University of Arizona where she is pursuing her Bachelor of Music degree under the guidance of Professor Tom Patterson.
