Teaching

Teaching philosophy

Teaching is a dynamic process that requires continual adjustments with experience and time. As a teacher, I believe it is important to consider not only how I deliver information and assess performance, but also how students learn. Learning is an active process as student engagement gives students' ownership over their learning processes and helps reinforce ideas. I strive to facilitate a comfortable and relaxed environment in which students are able to ask questions, try new things, and make mistakes.

My focus as a science teacher is to show students how to ask questions, make observations, and think analytically about their environment. Critical thinking—the ability to evaluate and analyze information to reach an informed conclusion—is a skill set that can follow and aid students in their everyday life outside of the classroom. Science and coding instill important life skills such as critical thinking, but also both are inherently creative and build confidence.
