Preschool Students 30 Minute Class One Section for AM and PM

Kindergarten-5th 30 Minute Class Twice a Week

Preschool:  Every Friday we sing songs, explore new instruments and move and dance on the Music carpet.  We start with the big concepts of music: Loud and soft, fast and slow, high and low, beat and rhythm.

Kindergarten and First Grade Music: We play games and do activities to begin to develop students’ unique voices.  Students start to identify the basic concepts of music. Kindergarten and First grade sing “Thank You to Our Veterans” at our Veterans Day Assembly. The students also perform at the Holiday Concert.

Second Grade: In second grade music we focus on the beat and rhythm.  Students begin to read, play and create rhythms on different percussion instruments.  Second grade performs at the Holiday Concert.

Third Grade: Students begin reading note names. Third graders get to participate in our yearly Spooktacular Concert for the first time.

Fourth Grade:  Fourth Grade music is all about musical instruments and the voice. Students discuss, play and sing music to help them get ready for band and choir in Fifth Grade. Students also begin playing the recorder. Students also perform in the Spooktacular.

Fifth Grade: Fifth Graders look at music in culture and our history. Units include the relation of Morse Code and music, notation and writing their own compositions. Students perform in the Spooktacular and can also join Band and Choir.
