Science

Our Science curriculum has been developed to align with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The standards are rich in content and practice and arranged across disciples to provide all students an internationally benchmarked science education. The NGSS are based on a framework developed by the National Research Council. 

Within the NGSS, there are five core topics at the third grade level; Structures and Properties of Matter, Matter and Energy in Organisms and Ecosystems, Space Systems: Stars and the Solar System, Earth's Systems, and Engineering. Students will be actively engaged throughout the study of each of these topics using the scientific method as a guideline. Rather than focusing on a textbook, students will use research materials, investigations, cooperative learning, and various technologies to gain an understanding of the topics.
