Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI)

LEVELED LITERACY INTERVENTION

The Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention System (LLI) is a small-group, supplementary literacy intervention to provide powerful, daily, small-group instruction to students who need help in reading in order to bring them up to grade level.

The program:

· Combines reading, writing, and specific work on sounds, letters, and words

· Provides explicit teaching of effective strategies for writing, and uses writing to extend understanding of texts and of words

· Emphasizes teaching for comprehending strategies

· Continuum of students understanding to guide the series of lessons

· Uses authentic texts
