Who is Elena?
Hi there! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in New York with a passion for helping individuals overcome life's obstacles. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Social Work from Fordham University in 2018, and in 2019, I earned my Master of Social Work, also from Fordham University.
In my experience as a therapist, I've worked with a diverse range of clients, including kids, teens, young adults, and older adults, from different backgrounds, ethnicities, religions, and spiritualities. As a therapist, I believe in creating a safe and supportive environment where clients can feel comfortable expressing themselves and working towards their goals.
My approach to therapy is unique, and I tailor it to meet the specific needs of each client. I use a combination of treatment modalities, such as Emergence Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, STAIR Narrative Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, to help clients achieve their desired outcomes.
But my passion for helping others extends beyond my profession. Before becoming a licensed therapist, I volunteered as a youth ministry leader and religious education teacher at a Catholic church. This experience instilled in me a commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment where clients can feel comfortable expressing themselves and working towards their goals.
So, whether you're looking for support for yourself or a loved one, I'm here to help you navigate life's challenges with resilience and grace.
Why the name "Elumina?"
As the founder of Elumina, a therapy practice dedicated to helping individuals overcome life's challenges and find inner peace, I combined my name, Elena, which means, "light," with the word "illuminate" to create a meaningful practice name that reflects my passion for helping others bring light into their lives.
