Nursing, in my opinion, is one of the most courageous professions there is – and not just because I am going to be one. I think that nurses are one of the world’s natural peace-keepers, bringing people together, helping everyone no matter their background, what they look like, or what they’ve done. Nursing, in my definition, is kindness, empathy, and love just as much as it is medicine and treatments.
As a nurse, my most important values and beliefs will be the focus of my career. I wish to achieve beneficence, and “doing no harm” is what I strive for. I believe every patient has a right to fair treatment, because you never know who they are or what brought them to where they are now. I strive for equality and fairness in everything I do as a nurse, and I plan to carry this out with every shift.
