Welcome to 3rd grade!
It is my pleasure to introduce myself. My name is Tricia Herward and I will be your child’s third grade teacher. I am entering my twenty first year of teaching at Hawthorne Elementary School.
I was born and raised in Elmhurst. I attended Lincoln, Bryan and York High School. I studied Art at The University of Kansas and continued on to earn my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at DePaul University. I earned my Masters of Education at National-Louis University a few years later, with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction.
I am a strong believer that the best educational teams are built through collaboration. This includes building connections between the home and classroom. I am really looking forward to working with you and your child this year to ensure a year of growth and a whole lot of fun. I am always here to listen, problem solve and foster a love of learning.
My husband, Kevin and I live in Elmhurst with our two boys, Will and Declan. Will is in 4th grade and Declan is in 3rd grade. We can be found on the weekends at soccer, football or hockey games here in Elmhurst, or on Paw Paw Lake in Michigan. We spend lots of our family time outside playing golf, tennis or kayaking. We love to travel, especially to visit family in Ireland. I am so excited to learn even more about our class and their families.
