Hub training course: An introduction to electrical machines

11 October 2021

Spread over two, three-hour online sessions in early September, Hub Director Professor Geraint Jewell delivered a short course entitled ‘An introduction to electrical nachines’.

The event was open to our hub partners, with many of them choosing to involve several staff members in the training. A total of 115 people engaged with the sessions, making it our most successful training event yet.

Industry partners attending this popular course included McLaren, Protean Electric, Rolls Royce, Siemens Gamesa, and ZF. The course began with an introduction to electrical machines and moved on to cover more detail in the second session. Professor Jewell covered:

The course was very well received with several attendees commenting how useful it had been, and some of our industry partners found it a particularly useful training course for their new starters.

The FEMM Hub has successfully transferred it’s training courses to an online format over recent months and we have two more scheduled during November.

On 18 November 2021, FEMM colleagues based in Sheffield will be delivering a workshop on the benefits and implementation of industry 4.0.

On 30 November 2021, FEMM colleagues in Strathclyde will be delivering an introduction to circular economy.

Hub members can sign up for these courses by emailing femmhub@sheffield.ac.uk.
