USD 490 Orchestra

The El Dorado Public School Orchestra program offers instruction to students in grades six through high school.  Dating back to the 1930's, generations of students have found a musical voice playing in school orchestras ranging from beginning to advanced.   

El Dorado's Orchestras have participated in events ranging from the Kansas State University String Fling for middle schoolers to the Winter Park Music Festival on the high school level.  In 2022, the El Dorado High School Orchestra was the feature orchestra at the Southwestern College Honor Orchestra Festival.

Students begin instruction on violin, viola, cello, or bass during the sixth grade year.  Beginning classes are offered as part of the middle school's academic day.  Students continue through middle school, making their way into the El Dorado High School Orchestra beginning the freshman year.
