Kevin Monroe has been Orchestra Director for the El Dorado Public Schools since 1989, overseeing string and orchestra instruction in grades 6-12. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas with graduate work at Wichita State University.
Mr. Monroe primary instrument is viola.
Conductor/clinician appearances include the Kansas State University String Fling (1996, 2004, 2009, 2012, 2018), the Western Kansas Orchestra Festival (2018, 2023), the Southern Plains Honor Orchestra Festival (2024), the Kansas-American String Teachers Association Honor Orchestra (2023), the Wichita Suburban League Middle School Honor Orchestra (2019), the Hays (Kansas) Middle School Orchestra Campout (2009), and the Lawrence (Kansas) Youth Symphony (1989). Mr. Monroe has adjudicated music festivals for the Kansas State High School Activities Association and numerous middle school leagues.
Mr. Monroe was honored by the El Dorado Public Schools as its "Teacher of the Year" for the 2015-2016 school year.
Professional memberships include the American String Teachers Association, The National Association for Music Education, The Kansas Music Educators Association, and the National Education Association.
