The degree and certificate in respiratory care are awarded after successful completion of the advanced registry-level respiratory care program. The program is designed for students planning to become California licensed respiratory care practitioners and registered respiratory therapists. Completion of the requirements also allows students to apply for all state and national advanced specialty credentialing examinations. Students will acquire the skills to provide a wide range of high technology and high-touch therapeutic interventions to patients in acute and chronic care settings.

Designed to expand on El Camino’s existing two-year accredited associate degree program, the accelerated 40-unit, 18-month bachelor’s degree program is offered in an eight-week, online format across three semesters. Students will further their education in respiratory care while training in areas such as:
Personnel management
Policy design
Case management of patients in a clinical setting
The program is designed to expand preparation and technical expertise of respiratory care practitioners. Program graduates will be trained to serve in leadership and clinical practitioner roles.
