Circulation Policies

Circulating Materials for Adults

• Books, including Course books, Reference Books, Bestsellers and other print books
• Periodicals – circulating collection of popular titles
• CDs and DVDs

Note: The EIU Library assumes NO responsiblity for the equipment of users who use our CDs and DVDs.

Circulation Periods and Renewal for Books

EIU Faculty & Staff

• Maximum items: 4
• Circulation Period: 4 weeks
• Renewal: Once. After you renewed a book, an additional 14 days will be added to your loan periods. If you have renewed a book more than one time, but still want to continue borrowing it, please bring the book with you to the Receptionist Desk and you can borrow the book again.
• Return: Please drop by the Circulation Desk (Level 3, Block 4) to return books. Fines will be applied in case of Overdue, Lost and/or Damaged Books.
• Regarding high-use books and books that the Library acquires only 01 copy, the maximum item the EIU Faculty & Staff can borrow is 02, with a circulation period of 05 days. Renewal is not applied for these types of books.

Undergraduate Students

• Maximum items: 2
• Circulation Period: 2 weeks
• Renewal: Once. After you renewed a book, an additional 14 days will be added to your loan periods. If you have renewed a book more than one time, but still want to continue borrowing it, please bring the book with you to the Receptionist Desk and you can borrow the book again.
• Return: Please drop by the Circulation Desk (Level 3, Block 4) to return books. Fines will be applied in case of Overdue, Lost and/or Damaged Books.
• Regarding high-use books and books that the Library acquires only 01 copy, the maximum item the Undergraduate Students can borrow is 01, with a circulation period of 05 days. Renewal is not applied for these types of books.

EIU Alumni

• Maximum items: 3
• Circulation Period: 4 weeks
• Regarding high-use books and books that the Library acquires only 01 copy, the maximum item the EIU Alumni can borrow is 01, with a circulation period of 05 days.
• Renewal: not applied
• Return: Please drop by the Circulation Desk (Level 3, Block 4) to return books. Fines will be applied in case of Overdue, Lost and/or Damaged Books.

Community Members

• Maximum items: 3
• Circulation Period: 4 weeks
• High-use books and books that the Library acquires only 01 copy: not applied
• Renewal: not applied
• Return: Please drop by the Circulation Desk (Level 3, Block 4) to return books. Fines will be applied in case of Overdue, Lost and/or Damaged Books.

Fine

Overdue Book Fines

• The grace period for standard book loans is 03 days for EIU Students and 07 days for EIU Faculty & Staff. Books begin to accrue overdue charges at the rate of VND 5.000 per day per item after the grace period has expired.
• If your overdue charge is over VND 100.000, your library card will be blocked until the charge is fully paid.

Lost Book Charges

• Library users are responsible for books that they have borrowed, and will be fined for lost books. Books are automatically declared lost when 45 days past due.
• Lost book fees are 2 x Cover price of book + VND 50.000 (processing fee) + Book Overdue Fees (if applicable).
• Lost book fees can also be compensated by Book Replacement (only the newest edition of the lost book is accepted) + VND 50.000 (processing fee) + Book Overdue Fees (if applicable).

Damaged Book Charges

• Library users are responsible for books that they have borrowed and will be charged for damage to books.
• Library users should not dog-ear pages or stick any adhesive materials in the books. In case of highlighting, underlining or writing in the books, or placing post-it notes or adhesive markers in the books, Library users will be charged.
• The minimum damaged book charge is VND 50.000 + VND 50.000 (processing fee) .
• The maximum charge will be equal to the lost book charges fee.

Appealing a Fine

Fine appeal should be submitted to the library's receptionist desk or on Google Site via Feedback Form. Please explain why you are appealing library charges in the Feedback section in the form.
