Use the Google Takeout feature to make a copy (archive) of your EGUSD Google Drive data and then download and save.
Use the Google Takeout feature to make a copy of your Google Drive data and save it as a compressed archive. You may then download this archive and save it to a USB flash drive, personal computer, or other external device.
If you choose to use the Google Takeout option, please note that all Google Docs, Drawings, Forms, Slides and Sheets will be converted to a standard Microsoft Office format for compatibility with applications outside of the Google environment.
Step 1 - Go to: https://takeout.google.com - When you are prompted for your username type in your EGUSD student ID number followed by @egusd.net, then click next. Then enter your password, then click next.
Step 2 - Select the data you want to export. You will not need to export files from most of the services listed. At the top, you can click to deselect all and only select the services from which you need to export files. Be sure to select Google Drive. If you do not need to archive all of the files in your Google Drive, or just want to archive your most important files, you can click All Drive Data to select specific folders to archive. Click Ok. Then, click Next step.
Step 3 - Customize the archive format. For Delivery method, choose Add to Drive. For Frequency, choose Export Once. For File type & size, choose .zip and 2 GB.
Step 4 - Once you have configured your options, click on Create Export. This will begin the process for creating an archive which will then be saved to your Google Drive.
Note that depending on the size of your Google Drive, it may take anywhere from several minutes to several hours to create the archive.
Step 5 - Once the archive is complete, a screen will display the archive with the option to open in Drive. Download this archive and save it to a USB flash drive, personal computer, or an external device. If you don’t see this option, or have closed the window, navigate to https://drive.google.com and locate the folder labeled ‘Takeout’. In this folder you will find the archive that you have generated. Once located, simply download this archive and save it to a USB flash drive, personal computer, or some other external device.
