Identify key words/phrases for your search. One way to do this is by finding all the nouns.
Example: How did the COVID-19 pandemic impact the popularity of the game Animal Crossing?
Try combining some of the key words/phrases for your search terms.
Example: pandemic + popularity + Animal Crossing
Try different search terms if you don't find what you are looking for the first time.
Research is a multi-stage process. Reading about your topic will help you generate additional search terms.
Examples of additional search terms: Tom Nook, Nintendo Switch, Aya Kyogoku
1) Works Cited entries for online resources should follow this format:
Last name of author, First name of author. "Title of Webpage." Title of Website, Publisher, Publication Date, URL. Date of Access.
Example:
Khan, Imad. “Why Animal Crossing Is the Game for the Coronavirus Moment.” The New York Times, 7 April 2020, https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/07/arts/animal-crossing-covid-coronavirus-popularity- millennials.html. Accessed 13 November 2024.
2) When citing a source from a database, look for the Cite button. This creates a citation for you. Be sure to select MLA style!
3) When citing a source from a website, you can create the Works Cited entry yourself or use the citation generator in Google Docs (go to Tools > Citations).
This video demonstrates how to create a hanging indent in Google Docs.
For in-text citations, place the first part of the source's Works Cited entry in parentheses. If the source is a book, include the page number(s). If the source is from a database or website, do not include the page number(s).
Examples:
("Muhammad")
(Broadus)
(Spielvogel 163)
